Gus just called me and informed me that there is drywall going up at the house!!!!! We are getting closer and closer to going home. I'm so ready to get back to normal living again! It will be nice, now that our schedules are so different, to be able to come home and get ready for bed, or get up and get ready for work, without bothering the other person who is trying to get some sleep. AND I MISS MY KITCHEN! You have no idea how many times I've wanted to make or eat something and then think, nope I can't do that. I left my calendar with my tally at the hotel today, but I'm pretty sure tonight will be night 191 of hotel living.
This morning, Gus & I spent some quality time together at the doctor's office. Although we are used to spending quality time at the doctor's office, this was a different kind of a visit. We both had physicals done and drug testing for the adoption process. I had my TB test done and Gus scheduled his for another time as he was not available on Friday to have it read. We were able to ask the doctor some questions we had regarding a birth mother who admitted to drug use and histories of mental illness. He calmed some of our fears and gave us some good advice. I really like our doctor and it is nice to know that he will be our child's doctor as well, since he specializes in internal medicine and is a pediatrician. It is a good feeling knowing our child will be in good hands and not just having to pick a pediatrician out of a book or based on other people's preferences. Since we had to do the drug testing down in the lab, our paperwork spread the word about why we were there and the nurses and staff were asking all kinds of questions and giving us some encouragement. That was really nice. I equate this to telling people you are pregnant. The way they were getting excited and asking where we were adopting from, how far into the process are we, and how long we thought it would take reminded me of how people react when someone shares they are pregnant. "Congratulations! When are you due? Are you going to find out the baby's gender?..." I guess we won't miss out on the whole experience after all. :)
